+India's most ambitious infrastructure programme, the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme aims to develop new industrial cities as 'Smart Cities' while converging next-generation technologies across infrastructure sectors. This initiative focuses on creating futuristic industrial cities that can compete with the world's best manufacturing and investment destinations, generating substantial employment opportunities and driving economic growth for overall socio-economic development.
The programme establishes robust transportation backbones for each corridor: the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor for Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor for Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). For other corridors including Chennai-Bengaluru (CBIC) and Bengaluru-Mumbai (BMIC), NH-4 serves as the backbone, while the East Coast Economic Corridor (ECEC) utilizes NH-5 and the Kolkata-Chennai rail route. Future North-South East-West and East Coast Dedicated Freight Corridors will further strengthen this comprehensive network.
To develop India as a global manufacturing and investment destination using a high-capacity transportation network, creating new industrial cities as 'smart cities' and converging next generation technologies across different sectors thereby creating employment opportunities and economic growth leading to overall socio-economic development.
Creation of state-of-the-art world class infrastructure to promote local commerce, enhance investment, generate employment and attain sustainable development.
