National Industrial Corridor Development Programme

India's most ambitious infrastructure programme, the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme aims to develop new industrial cities as 'Smart Cities' while converging next-generation technologies across infrastructure sectors. This initiative focuses on creating futuristic industrial cities that can compete with the world's best manufacturing and investment destinations, generating substantial employment opportunities and driving economic growth for overall socio-economic development.

The programme establishes robust transportation backbones for each corridor: the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor for Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor for Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). For other corridors including Chennai-Bengaluru (CBIC) and Bengaluru-Mumbai (BMIC), NH-4 serves as the backbone, while the East Coast Economic Corridor (ECEC) utilizes NH-5 and the Kolkata-Chennai rail route. Future North-South East-West and East Coast Dedicated Freight Corridors will further strengthen this comprehensive network.

Our Mission

To develop India as a global manufacturing and investment destination using a high-capacity transportation network, creating new industrial cities as 'smart cities' and converging next generation technologies across different sectors thereby creating employment opportunities and economic growth leading to overall socio-economic development.

Our Foundation & Reach

01

Origins as DMICDC (2008) and role as an SPV.

To develop India as a global manufacturing and investment destination using a high-capacity transportation network, creating new industrial cities as ‘smart cities’ and converging next generation technologies across different sectors thereby creating employment opportunities and economic growth leading to overall socio-economic development.

Institutional evolution into NICDC.

NICDC builds on the original SPV mandate with a sharper focus on project development, financing structures, and partnering with states and industry—so large-scale industrial infrastructure moves from concept to commissioning with clear accountability and measurable outcomes.

National footprint & corridor backbone.

Industrial corridors anchor multi-modal connectivity, integrated townships, and utility networks—linking ports, freight routes, and hinterland markets so investors can plan long-term operations with reliable access to labour, logistics, and suppliers.

Partnerships for sustainable industrial growth.

Collaboration with central and state agencies, developers, and financing institutions helps structure bankable projects, de-risk early-stage development, and align industrial expansion with environmental safeguards and inclusive employment goals.

Our Journey

Building India’s Industrial Backbone.

In order to accelerate growth in manufacturing sector and for ensuring systematic and planned urbanization, Government of India (GoI) has adopted the strategy of developing integrated industrial corridors on the backbone of multi-modal connectivity in partnership with State Governments. The same will create employment opportunities and economic growth leading to overall socio-economic development.
